Do you like the Boho-chic style? Well I just happen to be a huge fan of this fun style! To me, it’s one of the best expressions of creativity and freedom. I couldn’t imagine fashion without some kind of hint or homage to this eclectic way of dressing! In case you’re not too familiar with it or haven’t heard about it at all, here’s a little information that you can etch into your brain.
Boho-chic is a feminine style of fashion that features strong bohemian and hippie influences. “Boho” is an abbreviation of bohemian, while “chic” was borrowed from the French and means “stylish”or “elegant”. In England, this fashion staple is also known as “Bobo”-chic. The features of this fashion trend include “floaty” skirts (notably long white ones), furry gilets, embroidered tunics, cropped jackets, large faux-coin belts, sheepskin (UGG) boots, cowboy boots, baggy cardigans and “hobo bags”. When this style hit its peak in 2004 and 2005, it was strongly preferred by and associated with actress Sienna Miller and model Kate Moss from England. It wasn’t until the style hit the United States that it became an absolute worldwide hit with actresses Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie. In 2006 and 2007,the style was watered down a bit to give way to its more contemporary “Ibiza”-style version known as the “Balearic boho”. This twist to the Boho-chic trend was promoted by actresses Mischa Barton and Milla Jovovich.Later on, Jade Jagger, the daughter of the legendary Sir Mick Jaggerof the Rolling Stones, took it up and promoted it as a style all her own. She attempted to be “daring to combine things that are unexpected” and “embrace the boho chic with a hint of understated glamour”.
Ok, enough of the history lesson! I’m pretty sure you get the picture now. In summary, the iconic Boho-chic style incorporates the nature of a free spirit with a dash of elegance.
