Bohemian Magic: Be a Boho-Chic Bride!

Do you like the Boho-chic style? Well I just happen to be a huge fan of this fun style! To me, it’s one of the best expressions of creativity and freedom. I couldn’t imagine fashion without some kind of hint or homage to this eclectic way of dressing! In case you’re not too familiar with it or haven’t heard about it at all, here’s a little information that you can etch into your brain.

Boho-chic is a feminine style of fashion that features strong bohemian and hippie influences. “Boho” is an abbreviation of bohemian, while “chic” was borrowed from the French and means “stylish”or “elegant”. In England, this fashion staple is also known as “Bobo”-chic. The features of this fashion trend include “floaty” skirts (notably long white ones), furry gilets, embroidered tunics, cropped jackets, large faux-coin belts, sheepskin (UGG) boots, cowboy boots, baggy cardigans and “hobo bags”. When this style hit its peak in 2004 and 2005, it was strongly preferred by and associated with actress Sienna Miller and model Kate Moss from England. It wasn’t until the style hit the United States that it became an absolute worldwide hit with actresses Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie. In 2006 and 2007,the style was watered down a bit to give way to its more contemporary “Ibiza”-style version known as the “Balearic boho”. This twist to the Boho-chic trend was promoted by actresses Mischa Barton and Milla Jovovich.Later on, Jade Jagger, the daughter of the legendary Sir Mick Jaggerof the Rolling Stones, took it up and promoted it as a style all her own. She attempted to be “daring to combine things that are unexpected” and “embrace the boho chic with a hint of understated glamour”.

Ok, enough of the history lesson! I’m pretty sure you get the picture now. In summary, the iconic Boho-chic style incorporates the nature of a free spirit with a dash of elegance.

Flowers…Everywhere!

It’s a given that all brides will have their pretty bouquets, but if you choose to be a Boho-chic bride you could not only have flowers in your hands but also in your head! No matter how simple the dress looks, fresh flowers as a wreath on your head will always make a big statement, along with making you feel just as beautiful as you already look. Choose from an assortment of vibrant and fragrant flowers. The thing that makes flowers so amazing is that you’re bound to find one that will fit your wedding color theme just right! If you want to keep it simple, a small arrangement placed on the side of your hairstyle will suit you perfectly. Did you decide to pull your hair back for a maintenance-free look? Try adding bright flowers to your crown as a statement piece. Do you have a larger-than-life kind of style? Make your flower adornment as big as your smile! Working with a braided bohemian up-do? Accentuate it with some flowers rich in deep colors. There’s really no wrong way to style up your flower adornments!

Accessorize, Accessorize!

Being that the Boho-chic style is quite hippy, you are free to choose accessories that embody that. Going for a white embellished headband would be a lovely addition to your dress. Choosing a golden leaf adornment would definitely give you a royal look. If you’re looking for something a little more free-spirited, a simple braided adornment would do just fine!

The best thing about being a Boho-chic bride is that the focus is not really on the luxurious details or how elaborate you can be. It’s all about freedom, love and living in the moment! You’re celebrating finding the love of your life that you always desired. Bask in the moment! Gathering some of the inspiration here and putting it to good use will help you to become a dreamy Boho-chic bride! If you don’t use it, I surely will!
